Vacuum Switch -  0.1 to 37.0 inch pounds

Use these on Air Boxes and low vacuum lines; Never use on Brake Booster Line.

This vacuum switch plays a big role in the safety operation of the HHO generator. It controls the On/Off function of the generator by sensing the presence of vacuum while the engine is running. The switch is so sensitive, ones breath is capable of operating it.

Internal Construction:

There are two chambers inside the switch. They are separated by a diaphragm. Movement of the diaphragm operates the switch function.

Each chamber has a port to allow air in or out. If you "blow" air into a chamber, it pushes the diaphragm. If you "suck" air out of the chamber, it pulls the diaphragm.

The diaphragm is connected to the "Common" switch terminal. Moving it one direction makes a connection with the Normally Open contact of the switch. Moving it in the opposite direction connects it to the Normally Closed contact.

Mounted "horizontal", with the switch "underneath", the weight of the diaphragm causes it to fall. That connects the "Common" contact - with the "Normally Closed" contact. To active the switch, apply vacuum to the "upper" chamber port. The vacuum will "suck" the diaphragm upwards. That will connect the "Common" contact with the "Normally Open" contact. This is the preferred method for mounting the switch.

Connect the vacuum line to the upper chamber.

Mounted "vertical", the switch will be on the side. We have had many instances where the diaphragm stuck when a low vacuum was used. The switch is so sensitive, it does not take much suction to move the diaphragm. Use caution if you insist on using this mounting position.

Connect the vacuum line to the chamber farthest from the switch.
